Based on an optimal learning method for young children, Wink Korean begins formal writing instruction from Step 2, following whole-word learning. It systematically progresses through writing consonants and vowels, and then from single-syllable words to full sentences. For 7-year-olds preparing for elementary school, an additional 'Intensive Korean Writing Course' is provided to prepare them for school.
